General Description: Green-tailed Towhee (Pipilo chlorurus) are large, sexually monomorphic sparrows. They are gray overall with a red cap and yellow-green on the back of the head and on the wings. The throat is white.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Emberizidae.

Favored Habitat: Shrubby mountain canyons.

Where to Find: Green-tailed Towhee are not uncommon up on Mt. Charleston and other mountain ranges around Las Vegas.
