Glossary -- Bighorn Sheep Guzzler

Sheep Guzzler. A constructed water catchment and storage device used to provide water for wildlife, primarily bighorn sheep, but birds and other animals also use the water. A variety of guzzlers have been built in the mountains around southern Nevada, primarily by the Nevada Division of Wildlife. In the Desert National Wildlife Range, which was established to protect bighorn sheep, guzzlers primarily are for the benefit of the sheep. Elsewhere, however, guzzlers were established to benefit hunters. See also Quail Guzzler.
