US Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters provide air assault, general support, medical evacuation, command and control, and special operations support to combat, stability, and support operations. The UH-60 Black Hawk is a tactical transport helicopter that replaces the UH-1 "Huey" familiar from the Vietnam era. With powerful lift ability, one Black Hawk can transport a fully equipped, 11-person infantry squad in most weather conditions. One Black Hawk can also move a 105 mm Howitzer, the crew of six, and 30 rounds of ammunition on a single lift. All critical components and systems are armored or redundant, and the airframe is designed to progressively crush on impact to protect the crew and passengers.

The Army UH-60 is basically the same helicopter as the Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk Helicopter.
