House Flies (Family Muscidae)

General: House Flies (Family Muscidae) are the common flies often found around human habitation. Nothing is simple, however, as there are some 600 species in North America. The larvae of most house flies, feed and grow in decaying manure or plant material. Most adults feed on liquids, and a few of them extend that to blood.
