General Description: Clark's Nutcrackers (Nucifraga columbiana) are large gray and black birds with loud, raucous voices of the higher mountains. The body is gray, the wings are black with white patches, and the underside of the tail is white.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Corvidae.

Favored Habitat: Higher-elevation mountains. Uncommon but expected and easy to find in the Yellow Pine and higher life zones.

Where to Find: Around Las Vegas, look for Clark's Nutcrackers in Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon, and other higher-elevation areas on Mt. Charleston.

Comments: Clark's are serious camp robbers.
