White-eyed Vireo (Vireo griseus)

General Description: White-eyed Vireos (Vireo griseus) are small but stout, sexually monomorphic songbirds with heavy bills and big voices. They are gray overall with a yellow-green wash. The white eye and yellow "spectacles" (yellow eye-ring and yellow lores) are diagnostic. The throat is white, and they have two white wingbars separated by a black wingbar.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Vireonidae.

Favored Habitat: Found in deciduous woods, old fields, streamside thickets, and mangrove swamps.

Where to Find: Don't look for White-eyed Vireos around Las Vegas. Rather, look for them in the eastern US during summer and south in eastern Mexico and the Caribbean during winter.
