General
Description: Hooded Warblers (Wilsonia citrina)
are
small, sexually dimorphic songbirds. They are yellow-green above,
yellow under, and have a beady black eye. The outer tail feathers are white. Males have a distinctive
black hood.
Favored Habitat: Wet areas with shrubs.

 |
Where to Find: This is an
eastern species, so don't look for them around Las Vegas, but a
few lost birds show up in Nevada every year. The bird pictured here was
seen at Calico Basin in May 2007.

Not the best photo, but notice the white outer tail feathers that often show in flight. |
