Description: Varied Thrushes (Ixoreus naevius)
are
small, sexually monomorphic songbirds. They generally are brownish above and orange under with a black bar across the breast. They also have an orange eyeline and orange wingbars.
Favored Habitat: Thickets and woods in the mountains where they usually can be found on the ground.
Where to Find: Don't expected to see a Varied Thrush around Las Vegas, but keep an eye out for them while birding during spring and fall migration.
Comments: This bird was seen in the open desert (Mojave Desert Scrub habitat).
