American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus)

General Description: American Dippers (Cinclus mexicanus) are bark gray birds of moving water where they exhibit the unusual behavior of jumping into rushing streams to walk around on the bottom and catch bugs. On a rock out in the stream, they bob up and down and make a high-pitched call, one per bob.

Favored Habitat: Mountain streams.
