American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) juvenile

General Description: American Crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) are all black with a purplish gloss in good light. American Crows are similar to Common Ravens, but crows are smaller, have a shorter and thinner bill, and the end of the tail is straight across.

Favored Habitat: Farm fields and other agricultural lands.

Where to Find: Crows are very uncommon around Las Vegas. Look for them in agricultural areas.

Comments: Crows are gregarious birds often seen foraging in great numbers in farm fields. Common Ravens, in contrast, are usually are found alone or in small family groups in deserts and mountains.
