Cinnamon Teal (Anas cyanoptera)

General Description: Cinnamon Teal (Anas cyanoptera) are sexually dimorphic pond ducks. Males are reddish-brown (chestnut) overall with a black butt, and females are mottled brown overall. Both genders have patches of light blue and green feathers on the upper surface of the wing that usually is concealed, but shows in flight.

Favored Habitat: Ponds and marshes.

Where to Find: Cinnamon Teal are not common around Las Vegas, but look for them at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, the Pahranagat Valley, and the Overton Wildlife Management Area.

Comments: Winter visitors to Las Vegas.
