General: Wild Rose (Rosa woodsii) is an upright, brambly or viney shrub 3-5 feet tall. The leaves are compound, and each leaflet has serrate edges. Flowers pink with 5 petals and many stamens. The stems have prickles. Fruits form "rose hips" that can be used for making tea.

Wild Rose is an uncommon component of shrub communities in moist mountain areas in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub and Pinyon-Juniper Woodland) and higher life zones, particularly in the Transition (Yellow Pine Forests) and Canadian (Pine-Fir Forest) life zones.

Around Las Vegas, look for Wild Rose up on Mt. Charleston and other higher-elevation places.
