Bushy Bluestem (Andropogon glomeratus)

General: Bushy Bluestem (Andropogon glomeratus) is an uncommon, tall, upright grass that grows in individual clumps (bunches) in damp places the deserts around Las Vegas. Unlike other bunchgrass, the seedheads are quite bushy.

Bushy Bluestem is an uncommon component of vegetation associations in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) and higher life zones. Look for this species around Calico Basin at Red Rocks NCA.

Family: Grass (Poaceae).

Plant Form: Perennial grass. Grows in bunches.

Height: About 3 feet.
