Thanksgiving in Texas -- Nov. and Dec. 2010

Day 12, November 25. Austin. We started the day with nine of us participating in the Turkey Trot (10 if you count the dog). Sander ran the 5 miles, and the rest of us walked. With the kids, dog, and potty breaks slowing us down, at one point we were the last group in all of Austin with the police follow-up car nipping at our heels. To avoid the embarrassment, we decided to kick it up a notch for the last mile and passed several groups of elderly people, people with young kids, and moms pushing strollers. To be fair, Hulky was the most tired, and in fact, he laid down to sleep only a few feet past the finish line. After the Turkey Trot, we set up for dinner, Peter finished cooking, and Bill and his family arrived. A good time was had by all, including neighborhood kids and friends, and an exchange student from China who was very interesting our uniquely American thanksgiving tradition.
