Overview

Hole in the Wall Campground, located at 4,400 feet elevation, is the warm and sunny campground in the Preserve. Walled by sculptured volcanic mountains and grand views, the campground makes a great basecamp for hikers. Thirty-five campsites accommodate RVs and tents, and 2 more sites are walk-in.

Facilities include vault toilets, trash cans, drinking water, fire rings, picnic tables, and a dump station, but there are no utility hookups. Fees are $12 per night. All campsites are first-come, first-served; no reservations. Hole-in-the-Wall Visitor Center, located a short walk away, has flush toilets, running water, and electricity.

Getting to Hole-in-the-Wall Campground

This campground is located in Mojave National Preserve, about 2 hours south of Las Vegas. From town, drive out towards the Hole-in-the-Wall Visitor Center. About 2 minutes north of the visitor center, turn right into the campground.

If you live in a city with lots of ambient light (like Las Vegas), consider camping here and seeing what the excitement about the night sky is all about.
