Hiking Around Las Vegas, Lake Mead NRA

Mile 27.0 (Redstone) Trailhead is located 27.0 miles out Northshore Road (a few yards past Mile Marker 27) in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, about 1 hour northeast of Las Vegas on the north side of Lake Mead. From town, drive out to Lake Mead. From the intersection of Northshore Road and Lakeshore Road (Table 1, Site 0654), drive north on Northshore Road for 27.0 miles to Redstone Picnic Area (Site 0659) on the south (right) side of the road. Turn into the parking lot and park here; this is the trailhead. There are two trailheads: one at the edge of the parking lot, and one in the picnic area. This trailhead provides access to the Redstone Dune Trail, scrambling opportunities on the red sandstone boulder piles, and several other routes in the area. Link to map. |
