Multiple Trailing. A phenomenon wherein hikers, bikers, and horseback riders don't stay on the trail, and after enough environmental insult, several parallel trails become beaten into the landscape and can come to resemble a road. This sloppy practice results in environmental degradation; is unsightly; and in most jurisdictions, results in wasted money by trail crews trying to rehabilitate the land. Please help protect the fragile environment by walking single file along trails.
