South Tufa Area

From Highway 395, drive east on Highway 120E to the South Tufa (Test Station) Road. Watch for signs along the highway. Some of the curves on the paved road are sharper than you might expect.

South Tufa Road is graded dirt, but it gets pretty washboarded, so drive carefully.

Park at the parking area, pay the entrance fee, and walk the trail to the edge of the lake.

Mono County Park

From Lee Vining (intersection of Hwy 120W), drove north for about 5 miles to Cemetery Road. Exit the highway and drive northeast for about 0.3 miles to the County Park parking area.

Park and walk past the rest rooms to a trail that leads to the boardwalk. Please stay on the viewing platform at the end of the boardwalk so you don't disturb the birds of trample the vegetation.
