Military Aircraft Around Las Vegas, Aircraft Around Las Vegas

Out and about in the desert and mountains around Las Vegas, military aircraft will fly over your head and intrude upon your solitude. However, learning to identify aircraft in flight adds an odd twist to enjoying the outdoors while hiking and birding around Las Vegas -- how many species and varieties can you identify?

When the U.S. President travels in an Air Force jet, the plane is designated "Air Force One," such that the call sign of any Air Force aircraft carrying the President is "Air Force One." In practice, "Air Force One" refers to either of two customized Boeing 747-200B series aircraft (tail codes 28000 and 29000). The official USAF designation for this type of aircraft is VC-25A. Read more details here (white house page) and here (Wikipedia). Thanks to a friend for providing these photos, which were taken over a neighborhood in western Las Vegas.
